Mountain Refugium & SPA Hotel Asterbel in Braies

Situated in the tranquil valley of Braies, Mountain Refugium & SPA Hotel Asterbel offers a refined and calm foundation for your holiday in Val Pusteria in the Dolomites. Suites and rooms are furnished with local stone pine and larch, balconies or terraces opening onto mountain panoramas, and large windows that invite nature indoors. The setting provides both peaceful seclusion and easy access to village amenities and alpine trails.

Gourmet cuisine & new wellness area

Morning at Hotel Asterbel begins with a generous breakfast buffet featuring regional delicacies, homemade jams and fresh juices. In the evenings, menus reflect South Tyrolean cuisine with creativity and quality. In the wellness area, you will find an indoor pool heated to around 30-33 °C, multiple saunas (Finnish, bio), steam-baths, an infrared cabin and relaxation lounges: all designed to help you restore body and mind in alpine calm. From the beginning of December 2025, we will open with a new, expanded wellness area.

From the doorstep of Mountain Refugium & SPA Hotel Asterbel in Braies you step into the extraordinary landscapes of the Dolomites. In summer, hiking, climbing and scenic walks lead you through forests, pastures like Prato Piazza and to the iconic Lago di Braies. In winter, our hotel is located directly at a family-friendly ski area with new toboggan run, as well as at the cross-country tracks and snow-shoe routes open up the white-mantled world. The surrounding valley and peaks become your backdrop for both action and stillness.

I booked half-board and the dinner was excellent. The room condition and service were also excellent. The location is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Lake Briers, making it easy to visit nearby areas, but it takes some time to get to Tre Cime and Cinque Torri.

A fabulous family-run hotel. Located in one of the most enchanting spots in the Dolomites, it stands out for its atmosphere and the quality of its service. It's close to the bus stop, providing easy access to all the area's attractions. Hiking trails are also a great starting point from the hotel.

This is our third time staying here, and we've always had a great time. The hotel lives up to its star rating, with attentive service, well-maintained rooms, and a warm welcome, always. The location is excellent, just ten minutes from the lake and Prato Piazza, where many excursions depart. We especially thank Kevin for always making sure we had everything we needed! Huge thanks also to the owner and his daughter. Congratulations, and we'll see you again soon!

We stayed at this hotel in mid-July with a couple of friends. The property is beautiful and offers many amenities for a pleasant and relaxing stay. Everything is spotless, and the cuisine is excellent, varied, and carefully prepared. The managers and staff are incredibly kind and attentive to their guests' every need. It was our first ever mountain vacation, and they helped make it very enjoyable. We had a wonderful time. Thank you

We were guests at the Hotel Alsterbel very spontaneously due to an overbooking from another hotel. A truly beautiful hotel, with a very friendly welcome. Great rooms, a huge breakfast buffet. The dinner is also a dream. The food was prepared with love. A large selection, a salad buffet, antipasti, two soups to choose from, a choice of starter, main course, and dessert, plus an additional dessert buffet. Everything was freshly prepared. The sauna area and pool were super nice, with additional loungers outside. Luigia's massages are truly pampering; you should definitely book one. All in all, we had a fantastic five days and will definitely be back. We wish the team all the best and good health.

A fantastic stay – highly recommended! We felt completely at home in this hotel. The hosts are very friendly and true gourmets – and it shows! The breakfast and the evening meal were excellent: fresh, lovingly prepared, and delicious. The cleanliness throughout the hotel also leaves nothing to be desired. You can feel that the work here is done with heart and passion. Thank you so much!

We stayed here for 2 nights. The owner of the place is very friendly and helpful. This hotel is very beautiful and pleasant. It's located in an isolated area so you can really relax and enjoy the silence. The food is very good and varied.
